EMP Merchandising opts in favor of Wirecard payment platform

Grasbrunn near Munich, September 18, 2009; The Hamburg-based software house e-velopment GmbH and Wirecard AG have extended their cooperation. The reason for this was the decision by EMP Merchandising HGmbH to switch to the certified payment platform of Wirecard.

As an IT provider for the mail order and e-commerce sector, e-velopment’s circle of customers includes numerous enterprises of note. In supplementation of Wirecard AG’s comprehensive risk management solutions already integrated on behalf of the Schneider Group, additional payment interfaces were implemented within the scope of the EMP customer project.

The EMP Group and its nationwide and international subsidiaries, as specialized online or mail order vendors of rock music, accessories and merchandising articles, ranks among the Top 100 of Germany’s mail order houses. EMP has now converted its online shops to the PCI DSS-compliant Wirecard payment platform and to the credit card acceptance system of the Wirecard Bank. Factors that really influenced EMP’s decision were the technical scalability of the solution and the service-oriented approach adopted by Wirecard AG.

Martin Reuter, Managing Director of e-velopment, added: “Our collaboration with Wirecard is coming along exceptionally well. In the course of the project on behalf of our common client, EMP, new payment interfaces were incorporated in our mail order trading software 360e and the integration into EMP's customer-specific shop system was implemented. This means that the payment processes are now fully linked, i.e. from the front end (call center/E-Shop) all the way through to the back end.”

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) was initiated by VISA and MasterCard in 2005 to prevent theft and misuse of credit card data. Compliance with this standard is required from all companies that store, process or transfer credit card data. Internet providers and merchants who offer card payments but prefer not to store or process any credit card data are offered alternatives by the Wirecard Group in the form of standardized solutions. Unlike the back-end solution, which calls for PCI certification on the part of the merchant, in the case of the front-end solution (Wirecard Payment Page) the card data is processed directly via the PCI DSS-certified servers of the Wirecard technology group.
